Edward Nobach Jr. Red Wing MN. While in the military in the early 1970's, Ed was stationed in Alaska for three years where he put together his fondness of the water pumping windmill on the family farm and the ceaseless wind of the Aleutian Islands. Way out far from nowhere there was energy all around but every bit of usable energy had to be shipped in from thousands of miles away. It seemed to be like that everywhere in Alaska.

After the military Ed attended the University of Minnesota with hopes of Engineering School but the usual conflicts of Calculus and lack of money after 2 1/2 years sent him to a school that teaches only Renewable Energy. The Red Wing Energy Education Center in Red Wing, Minnesota in 1982. At the start of the Wind Farm Revolution he then went to California's Altamont Pass near San Francisco. While there he participated in Research and Development of 1800 95kw(kilowatt) wind turbines and then on to being responsible for the construction of the world's largest privately owned turbines, the Fayette 400kw machine. He was also hired out to do scientific testing of other companies turbines and took part in D.O.E. wind experiments. The research that was done then made it possible to create the giant turbines today.
After 5 years in the Altamont, Ed returned to Minnesota with the intention of forming a Non-Profit organization dealing with renewable energy and the saving of the small family farm. His work was met with little interest in the 1990's and after 2 years of looking for funding he went to work in the field of Robotics and Automation which directly relate to Renewable Energy and Agriculture as the small farmer of the future must depend on computers and automation to stay competitive with the corporate farms. He also spent 5 years working on a Dairy Farm to get to know the ins and outs of the troubles that farmers face and the energy that it takes to survive.
